Halloween Special : Pumpkin Surgery

Halloween is just around the corner and before that, when I'm in the mood of celebrating the massive festival of the year, I found a disaster happening to me this morning.

Few days ago, I brought home a faceless pumpkin from the market and thought of giving the pumpkin a plastic surgery which I name it as Two-Face Pumpkin. The surgery went well although I'm not sure whether my skill of carving the little pumpkin a new face is in a satisfactory level. Okay, I start babbling again~ Fast forward, this morning, I found that Two-Face Pumpkin had fungus growing over his teeth (Sweet tooth! Told em not to eat too much of sweets!).

See the black spongy thingy! Eww!

First thing came across my mind, hell no! Halloween is coming and Two-Face Pumpkin must not be absent for the big festival. Grab my surgical tool (engraving knife) and be a doctor I always want to be, Doctor Who? Doctor HY it is! Deep down I think that Doctor Banny might sound friendlier (Still miss my old name Urbanae/Banny.).

With all the skill I learnt during my uni life, first thing to do is to scrape out the fungus and throw it a fungus test to certify it!

You dear little fungus~
Of course I don't have any chemical or apparatus with me to perform a test for the fungus piece but I guess I just identify it through the morphology. Yay, spongy and dark, fungus, it is (start to talk like Master Yoda)! To be specify, it's a mold.

Two-Face Pumpkin isn't feeling well.

Without any doubt, I make a decision to perform a skull operation as the internal of the pumpkin must have been infected and needed to be removed immediately (Oh man, I sound like Rick from Walking Dead! Ooops, spoiler alert!). It would have rotten no matter how but we are doing this just to lengthen Two-Face Pumpkin's lives, without anesthesia (Poor thing!). The following picture is disgusting and with strong violence and gore, please avoid if you're under 16.

The skull taken off with some brainy and internal organs and etc etc. *vomit*
To avoid the condition deteriorate, spatula has used to removed all the infected parts, which is almost most of it (><)''. Half way through the operation, the worst thing happened.

Two-Face Pumpkin is striked by nausea and vomiting...

This cause difficulty in removing the infected parts but lady luck is with me, I found the main infected area and remove it!

It was building its base at the jaw area! Mushy and slimy! Yikes!

Totally forgotten the other faces of Two-Face Pumpkin, having a brainiac time. Poor thingy!

After hours of hours struggling with this surgery, all infected area has been removed. Good news is pumpkin survive but bad news is I have to amputate two of its teeth. Meh~

Two-Face Pumpkin after surgery, it's feels blurry, side effect from the surgery.

Pumpkin under quarantine.

Dear Two-Face Pumpkin is under quarantine aka ICU room to prevent further infection like fruit flies laying eggs, oh gosh, that is one deadly disease I can't do any operation but decon it which is send the pumpkin straight to the coffin. Hopefully pumpkin will last till Halloween! We need you badly! Hard times, people, please pray for Two-Face Pumpkin.

PS : I'm trying to label my photos and it's looks weird but as times go by, it will be better. Still thinking about Urbanae's Photography or HY's Photography. Love both name so much.

HY's Food Experiment: Bruschetta with Cheese and Tomato

Great news! First of all, Me aka HY will start to share out my cooking recipe. Yay! Because sharing is caring and of course I hope to find someone who loves to cook as well and share their opinion with me. I was thinking the name, HY's Food Experiment sound like I was cooking some hazardous food and scared people off. HY's little kitchen sound dull. Same goes to HY's Recipe so I'll just stick to the origin one.

Today I'm going to give my very first lesson of cooking (Oh I'm so excited! I'm going to be like Jamie Oliver~Day Dreaming again.). It's a very simple and refreshing dish. It's Bruschetta with Cheese and Tomato. Good to be served as breakfast~ HY's style breakfast!

Chemical/Materials needed (Basically it's just ingredients! Somebody is trying to make it sound so mystery!)
  • Baguette
  • Colby Jack Cheese
  • Tomato (2)
  • Mint leaves (handful, chopped)
  • Basil leaves (handful, chopped)
  • Salt and Pepper (a pinch)
  • Lemon juice (1 teaspoon)
  • Garlic (2 cloves,minced)
  • Olive oil
First of all, cut the Baguette into slices, not too thick as I found that I have difficulty biting through it (I know I need calcium~). Next on, cut the cheese stick into slices. The cheese I'm using is Sargento's Colby Jack. I love Colby Jack because it kinda give me a cheese-kick! The aroma of it, awww!

Yes students, slice all your Baguette and cheese.

Cut the 2 tomatoes into cubes. I chose a not too ripe tomato so that it will give a tiny little soury taste. Throw the tomatoes, chopped basil and mint leaves, minced garlic, salt and pepper, few drops of olive oil and lemon juice into a bowl and mix it up.

You'll have something like this and the aroma of the herbs is releasing to the air~

Place the tomato mixture on the sliced Baguette and place a few slices of cheese on it. Recommend more cheese to be placed on the top layer. Preheat oven to 450 F, before sending your tiny ship of Baguette into the oven. After that, send them all in and bake till the cheese melt.

Nicely set and bake them!

You can bake a little longer if you like your baguette taste more crunchy but I just love it to be not too crunchy so I leave it 1, 2 minutes more in the oven after the cheese melted. And here you go, cheesy Bruschetta with tomato and basil mint.

Yummy!

The cheese can be replaced by Mozarella. But I love Colby Jack sooo much! HY's food experiment, Bruschetta with cheese and tomatoes! Nom Nom Nom!

Selangorlicious Season 2 Food Blogging Competition Winners Prize Giving Ceremony

I would like to apologise and yes, you can throw stones flowers to me for vanishing for such a long period because I've been BZ doing something else, ex: my convo (Yes, I've graduated~ *applause* Kids like me able to graduate is like a miracle that never exist.).

Booyah to all those stuff I just mention. I'm going to blog about much interesting event, yes Selangorlicious Season 2 Winners has been chosen and was invited to the prize giving ceremony. How irony am I being happy for getting invited but being so sad deeply inside where seeing people getting/winning $$$ from the competition~ (Such a tragedy to a poor kiddie!) Nah, just kidding, I got some awesome food there too, that's more than enough!

Let's browse through the photos~

Prize Giving Ceremony held at Gulam Mee.

Elizabeth Wong giving a speech.

There were the winners. Yeah! Extra $$$ to spend~

With the YB.
They are having 3 category, mandarin, malay and english for season 1 and season 2. Rumor spreading there will be an extra category, what will it be?? I place my bet on Tamil! After the prize giving session, it's dinner time!

Sticks and sticks of Satay.

Gulam Mee!!

My portion of food, having a diet, never!
The Gulam Mee taste really good, you can feel the aroma of the stir frying mee on your tastebuds and I bet it would taste better if we add in a small wedges of lime in it. The fried chicken is good but the satay is just nice, I think they overcooked the satay so the meat is a challenge for weak teeth and gums.

Can't wait for the next season! Perhaps I would take part in it next time!
