Oscar 2012 nominees : Yay or nay?

The Oscar's season is back and this must be the most star packed event of the year. The contender for each category seems to be getting heavier and heavier over time.

Who will bring back the gold man home?

We have some really awesome movie in Oscar 2012 which happens to be a lot of Oscar snubs happening as each category only can fit in 5 or 6 nomination. I always have this assumption that Oscar will only take it serious, mid slow pace and not-so-blockbuster movie. In the Best picture category, I'm shock to see that "Hugo" (Okay, Hugo got nominated for a few category as well.) is one of the nominees this year. "Bridesmaids" and "Drive" were not nominated, which considered as one of the biggest snubs. As for "Bridesmaids", I'm not really impressed by it, I mean it's a okay movie. But, I didn't expect it to be nominated. But I think "Shame" deserves a nomination.

Best Actor category, both Leonardo Dicarpio and Michael Fassbender dropped out of the list. Kinda big snubs for me but the category can't fit this much. However, we found some "justice" after years and years having this legend winning the top biggest snubs title in almost all awards but specifically referring to the Oscar, yes it's the man, Gary Oldman has finally get a nomination! And we have the best buddy Brad Pitt and George Clooney nominated as well. Seems like a tough competition in this category but personally, Gary Oldman should have the little gold man.
Gary Oldman with Jean Dujardin.

Best actress category will surely disappoint a bit without having Tilda Swinton in it. "Harry Potter" seems to give some surprise as well with no nomination in Best picture which it happened to be one of the biggest film last year. The fans is trying to have Alan Rickman got into the best supporting actor list but nay, the panel is not fond with Snape, I guess.

Some add on :
- "Hugo", the most nominated film with 11 nominations.
- No pixar this time. So WEIRD~~~
- My prediction will be Descendants (Best picture), Gary Oldman (Best actor!!!), Might be the Artist (Best original screenplay, this film is a big hit but not my type of movie.), Harry Potter (Visual Effect), Kung Fu Panda 2 (Best animated feature)....

And below here is the list of the nominees for Oscar 2012. Can't wait for the red carpet.

Sherlock the TV series Season 1 : Genius work!

Sherlock Holmes is not a uncommon movie and tv drama material in the entertainment industry, with so many remakes in the history. But to stand out among all, I think Sherlock the recent tv series starred by Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson accomplish that, with an outstanding storyline, cast and background.

Sherlock and Watson.

The poster might seems something ain't right. Yes, it looks like, the clothing and setting is different. Because the plot take place in the 21st century, in London. Yes, that's the factor that make it different from other Holmes remake.

The Sherlock Holmes in this tv series is as weird as always, and smart, proud of himself, loves the violin, can't be friend with the others but only to Watson. He's a freak to everyone, he loves to "insult" most of the people and he loves texting, yes, it's 21st century anyway. Watson, kind, lovely, not as hot as the one in the movie (Jude Law) but still the Watson we know.

Let's rock whenever there's a crime!

Basically, most of the stuff is quite similar but the setting make a big difference. Like Holmes will go to lab, using microscope, found him emailing or texting, and he can speaks very fast when he's thinking.

The code cracking and solving case where the creator Moffat and Gatiss focus on makes this series much more interesting. It just getting more exciting and a bit edgy, you know where Sherlock get really excited whenever there's a case and his biggest nemesis get excited as well when he create a crime.

Holmes solving the cases and Watson helping.

I think Watson didn't help Holmes as much as we expect since he's an all rounder, almost, in the series. But it will make you hook on it. The connection between each clue and the crime make you feel like Holy Shite, THIS IS SHERLOCK HOLMES!!!! Genius! This is the part where the series outdo the movie (although I love RDJ and Jude Law and maybe Guy Ritchie so much! But the movie still great!). And I love Moriarty, my favorite among all the Moriarty that have been potrayed.

Just a genius piece of work. Worth watching. And I think 3 episodes in a season is not enough for me. Season 2 is released and I can't wait for season 3.

(PS : It's real good! )

Sherlock Holmes 2 : A Game of Shadows review

It's a long wait for the Holmes fans, the sequel Sherlock Holmes 2 is, I would rather said satisfying for me.

See the hot pair doing their detective job!

The cast is as always amazing. It starts with a slow pace, bored me a bit at the beginning but once it get on the track and the action pack came in, it's a mind blowing thingy! This time the plot get around Professor M aka Moriarty, Holmes biggest enemy or you can say Holmes is Moriarty biggest enemy in another way round.

Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr perform really well as Watson and Holmes. They're the right pair, seriously. When they're together, they start showing their comedy talent to the audience. It's really hilarious especially when Sherlock throw Watson's wife off the train, superb. But, it's quite touchy, a bit of touchy for the Holmes dying scene but it cracked me up for the following scenes. Have a lot of laughing during this movie.

Wedding for Watson and his wife. Look how jealous Sherlock is.

I love how Guy Ritchie turn Sherlock Holmes into a martial art guy, all the action scene is awesome, especially the slow-mo scene where the explosion and the fighting happened. It's a genius movie, for Holmes and the director. But I think there will be a bit of confusion for those who didn't read the Holmes series, just a bit. But the action would sure overwhelmed you in this movie.

Compared the to prequel, I think this one is more towards into cracking the code and doing the detective thingy compared to the first one. Improvement, bravo, bravo! And applause to Stephen Fry as the role of Sherlock Holmes's brother. A delighting cast for the movie. I thought at first they will like to cast Brad Pitt as Prof. Moriarty, thanks God they didn't because it would be a too handsome Moriarty and I only realize that they did think of casting GARY OLDMAN!!!!! I wonder why it didn't work out! It would be PERFECT! But I think Jared Harris make a good Moriarty too, but would really love to see Gary Oldman as Moriarty.

Load of action scene.

Overall, it's a really nice movie. I mean it ends in a smart way (along the way too), the ending is really important for a movie. For this one, the ending help me to forget about a slight boring at the beginning. Just a slight bit of boringness in the beginning for me. I enjoy the disguise that Robert Downey Jr did in this movie. It's good, love Guy Ritchie's work and he shows us how smart is Sherlock Holmes, which he really is.

(PS : Downey buff up for the role, I can see it. He looks so sexy as women, haha!!! Congrats on his baby boy by the way.)

Death hoax : Jon Bon Jovi still rocking the world !!!

Yes, if you're on Twitter, you probably notice #bonjovidead is trending and when you search through Google, "jon bon jovi dead" will be the first thing come up first. So, the Rock and Roll world just lost one of the greatest legend.....HELL NOOO!!!!

I almost come to a heart attack when I saw the news (how do I live without Bon Jovi!!!) but as a smart fans, I still go through double check and thanks god, Jon himself did something to proves that he's still ALIVE and looking good (my POV!)!!

Jon tweeted that, "Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey!"

So, Jon Bon Jovi finally use his twitter, to proves that he's still alive!!! God bless the man and the band. They need to rock the fans for a few more decades or one millennium before they can really rest in peace! I mean, I come so close feeling how is it like to lose my favorite musician for the first time. I know this post sound so personal, yeah, of course because I'm die hard BJ fans!

Just wish that those people won't simply spread stupid death hoax of celebrity again. First of all, you get a lot of trouble to the celebs themselves by receiving tons of mails, emails, messages to confirm the news, secondly, you scare the hell out of their fans!!! Well, now we probably can sit back and listen to "I'll sleep when I'm dead" by the man himself, ehem, I mean singing "Have a Nice Day" to those who spreading the hoax around!

(PS : Can't wait for their next album!)

Big Bad Wolf Preview Book Sales 2011

It's the one and only book sales that is craved by book readers, and it's coming back again this year, the Big Bad Wolf Books sales!!!

My preview passes to BBW.

Coolest thing is that I got the preview passes to the sales, which is my first time to the BBW and it's cool that I won't have to squeeze with the crowd. It's held at MAEPS which is a place that is large enough to get all the books and book lovers in.

Bus Ride.

I can be sold....

It's really nice that they have bus services to fetch us into the venue when we reach MAEPS, which save us some walking energy so that we can use it in picking books!!!

Stacks of BOOKS!!!

Big Bad Wolf spotted!!

Oh, fiction, my favorite.

I gotta say that I'm stunned as most of the fiction books cost about RM8, some cost RM 6......HOLY!! Some is hardcover!!! But, too bad they didn't specialized their category so you will need to focus on your "treasure" hunting just in case you missed out the book you want. The place is really big enough, and the staff there is super nice!! Only that they may lack of knowledge of books. Can't blame them really as the book's price is satisfy me enough.

And here you go, you vampire lover, the Twillight series.....

I saw people using their own trolley and travel bags!!! I'm a rookie for book sales so I bring nothing.....but thanks god, they offer us with empty boxes so we can carry our CHOSEN books. They have lots of books, comics, magazines, cooking book, biography and etc.....!! But I heard some of the book lover over there said that there isn't much nice books compare to the last BBW books sale! Oh goodness, which mean last one is much better. I thought this one is cool enough. But I can't found few of my DREAM books.

They even have Keroro Gunsou comics, my favorite!!!!

The comic section.

I was dragging the boxes with books, searching around nice books with my friend. We're like doing some treasure hunting. Haha! But I try to mind my spending because this is my first time and my budget limit.....so I only grab a few. I want MORE!!!!! But.....I can't!

Here's my CHOSEN ONE from the BBW sales.

I picked a few. I saw Harry Potter Order of Phoenix sold at RM 8! Heart attack! Why not the whole series!!! So, I didn't buy it. Thinking of getting the whole boxset. Same goes to the Song of Ice and Fire and Malazan Book of the Fallen. It's okay. I think I get what I want this time. The only thing is that the food stall, not enough food supply where they only sell sandwiches......we almost starved till death (But we have the BOOKS with us so we survive!!!). Everything is fine, just the food. Hope they will improve that!

(PS : I can only start reading my new collection after I finished Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Man, this novel is confusing but exciting at the same time.)
